THE LIQUID LOUNGE
At the intersection of music, media and modern art lies the Liquid Lounge. Designed with tactile elements to spark the imagination, this room was conceived as an inspired escape for a young couple – far away from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives.
The space is meant to bring joy, be interactive and provoke your mind. Its design was influenced by high fashion, iconic architects, and postmodern designers of the 1960's and each piece was carefully chosen to be experiential. We were also inspired by elements of the Memphis movement which took ideas from Art Deco and Pop Art and brought them to life with bright colors, abstract geometric shapes and bold patterns.
As you enter the room there is a rose colored Bryan Sideboard by Jean De Merry on the far wall. Above it is a large digital art display created by Liquid Canvas. The work is based on a painting by Bay Area artist Lauren McIntosh with intricate hand animated sequences that bring movement to the piece and transform the static painting into an animated work of art. This is a ''must see" piece of work.
In the right corner of the room sits a custom sectional inspired by French designer Christopher Delcourt and upholstered in Mark Alexander fabric. In front of this lies the "U & I" coffee table designed by Birnam Wood Studio in collaboration with jewelry designer Suna Bonometti. The walls above have two mixed media pieces by artist Ryan Bucko. Ryan’s work marries his passion for iconic architecture with the unbridled energy of abstract art.
Next to the stairs a DJ station with a turntable hangs from the ceiling on an acrylic table with stadium seating below. Three 11 foot tall pieces of art are suspended behind with lyrics from The Beatles; Crosby, Stills, and Nash; and John Mayer hand cut on paper. The lyrics contain rhythmic and healing words of inspiration chosen by artist Chris West.
CALA MEZCAL
To the corner of the Liquid Lounge lies the Cala Mezcal - a moody Mexican bar offering guests an immersive escape from the daily grind. There is a nightclub vibe to this room and guests are immediately enveloped in a deep desert haze with a smoky, hand painted mural of agave plants and palms by Caroline Lizarraga.
A dark rose banquette and geometric table welcome guests to linger. A chandelier of molten glass is suspended overhead. The star of the room hangs above the banquette - the spectacular piece of digital art by Danial Canogar, “Amalgama”. Composed of imagery from significant artists across time, its transformative algorithm liquefies and morphs the original paintings with mesmerizing movement. It's truly unforgettable.
The bar area features a striking semi-circle of backlit shelving designed with a mix of Ipe wood and steel. The bartop seating area reveals an unexpected black and white kingsnake, affectionately named ‘Shakira’ and also painted by Caroline Lizarraga. With its alluring mix of art and inspiration, Cala Mezcal is the perfect place to unwind and spend an evening in relaxed revelry.
