ARTWORK: NEUTRA II + LINEAR INTERPLAY
Two important works by Ryan Bucko are on display in designer Tineke Triggs’ Liquid Lounge at the 2020 San Francisco Decorator Showcase.
The first, “Neutra II is a large painting named after famed architect Richard Neutra. Linework, constructed of wire and thread, controls the various line weights which hover over the painting’s surface. This linework creates a third dimension that changes upon viewing perspective and is representational of the design gestures Neutra was known for within mid-century modern architecture.
The second, “Linear Interplay” is a series of nine small mixed-media works on paper that share the same material and linework references as Bucko’s larger paintings. Each further illustrate Bucko’s obsessive pursuit to reduce geometry down to its purest form.
"As a designer and artist, I've spent my entire career pursuing the balance between simplicity, beauty, and function. My intent is to capture a type of “simple complexity”; simple in form, yet complex in execution. Architecture inspires me, it challenges me to deconstruct it's components into its purest geometric forms which allow me to study it in a completely new way." - Ryan Bucko

“My work focuses on connecting with architecture and the pursuit of purity within form and composition. Nothing extraneous will do.” - Ryan Bucko
His paintings have been featured in multiple galleries, showrooms and premier events, including Kneedler Fauchere’s showrooms in both San Francisco and Los Angeles, the 2020 launch of the Ferrari F8 Spider and the Ritz Carlton’s Slate Contemporary Gallery.
