ISHARA - THE LIVING ROOM
Room #4
The elegance of this Victorian home provided the ideal canvas for a long-held dream: a show house space where Sindhu’s Indian roots meet a contemporary design sensibility. Here, East and West exist in effortless balance, much like her, living comfortably in both worlds.
Heritage craft is brought to the forefront and reimagined through a modern lens, layered with bespoke furnishings and collected detail. Hand painted frescoes, mirrorwork, and fretwork, with origins in ancient India, infuse the space with depth, history, and artistry.
The bespoke furniture reflects a close collaboration between Sindhu and the artists and makers who brought each design to life through hand painting, carving, and leatherwork. Crafted using time-honored techniques and defined by clean, modern silhouettes, the pieces are both collectible and enduring, resonating with contemporary architecture and the way we live today.

COLLECTIBLE DESIGN BY SINDHU PERURI
Pichh Pouf: Hand-painted brass poufs featuring a verdant garden, each meticulously painted by an artist in the Indian miniature style known as Pichhwai. Originating in 17th-century India, this intricate style is celebrated for its lush landscapes and depictions of animals such as cows, lotuses, and peacocks. The pouf itself is crafted in Burma teak with brass detailing by a skilled maker in Hyderabad, bringing together a rich mix of materials and artisanal techniques.
Zari Sari Demilune: Crafted from ash wood, this demilune is sculpted to evoke the drape of a sari. A gold-foiled border recalls the richness of traditional Indian textiles, while intricately hand-carved floral motifs create an embossed effect, echoing the raised texture and intricacy of fine embroidery.
Pondicherry Cocktail Table: Not quite a circle, this piece reimagines the traditional placement of table legs. Beautifully leather-wrapped and crafted from Burma teak, it features a brass top and reflects the artistry of Pondicherry, a town shaped by its history as a French colony since 1674.
Arc Sofa: Made for conversation, this sofa brings two comfortably angled seats together around an open center, creating a sense of closeness while still allowing for personal space. With its graceful curves, it offers an inviting perch.
Parlor Sofa: A modern, bespoke sofa with a smart point of view. This design rethinks the traditional armrest by integrating handcrafted walnut drink tables, beautifully detailed and seamlessly built into the form. Designed for lounging and easy entertaining, it balances form and function.

SINDHU PERURI
Growing up in India, Sindhu recalls her grandfather, a textile merchant, unfurling exquisite hand-loomed sarees blended from silk, cotton, and metallic threads. The vivid colors, dynamic prints, and ornate gold embroidery inspired her love for design and craftsmanship.
Fast forward a few decades, this reverence for artisan-made pieces and rich texture has fused with California’s relaxed luxury. The result? A signature style that’s elegant and bold, yet artfully restrained and carefully curated.
With over ten years of experience in interior architecture and design, she finds immense joy in designing warm, inviting, layered and deeply personal spaces that are tailor-made for the people who inhabit them.

THE SAN FRANCISCO DECORATOR SHOWCASE
The San Francisco Decorator Showcase began in 1977, when the late Nan Rosenblatt — a University High School parent and accomplished interior designer — and Philip Fernandez, the first president of the school’s Parents Association, envisioned an event that would bring the design community together in support of education. In its first year, the Showcase raised $26,000, laying the foundation for a legacy that continues to transform lives. Over nearly five decades, the event has united the Bay Area’s most visionary designers, artists, and craftspeople, raising over $21 million to benefit the University High School Financial Aid Program.
The 2026 San Francisco Decorator Showcase invites you to explore an extraordinary Queen Anne-style Victorian residence at 2315 Broadway Street in Pacific Heights. Built in 1897 and designed by architect Moses J. Lyon, the historic home spans nearly 10,000 square feet and will serve as the setting for the iconic design event, taking place April 25 – May 25, 2026. This year’s house is a must-see celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and community. Tickets may be purchased here.
