BEACON HILL PENTHOUSE - Beacon Hill, Boston, Massachusetts
Bow windows, hilltop views, and refined, streamlined style distinguish this classic Beacon Hill residence. The curated art collection includes mid-century masters Picasso and LeWitt and contemporary works by Katz, Donovan, and Kobayashi.
This historic townhouse is elevated with timeless silhouettes that are at once classic and streamlined. The living room’s pair of sculptural sofas by Jean-Louis Deniot echo the curved bow windows. A smoked glass and brass side table by Karl Geckler is in itself a work of art. The palette of soft lilacs, warm camels, walnut and brass connect with beautiful Beacon Hill views.
Artwork above the fireplace is by Alex Katz.
In the richly paneled library, the timeless mix continues. A vintage Murano chandelier converses with an iconic mid-century floor lamp by Vico Magistretti and the Picasso on the wall. A sexy slipper chair by Roman Thomas is joined by an Ochre settee is dressed in satin, with silky carpet underfoot. The window seat cushion and bolster were custom made with a client’s favorite Holly Hunt fabric rescued from a damaged chaise.
Artwork above the settee is by Picasso.
Curvaceous 1930s dining chairs from France are dressed in silver and create a striking contrast to the dark table. The leather sideboard and silky geometric carpet are soft foundations for the dramatic art and Lindsey Adelman chandelier above.
Artwork above the sideboard is Promise to Keep by Hisako Kobayashi. Artwork to the right of the table is by Sol LeWitt.
Sculptural forms continue into the bedroom, where the calm palette is enlivened with a bold area rug. From the arched nook’s cozy settee, one can enjoy panoramic views of Boston.
Artwork above the bed is by Tara Donovan. Artwork above the settee is Santa Fe Series #4 by Elizabeth DaCosta Ahern.
