A MEDITATION ROOM WITH EMBEDDED INTENTIONS

Beyond its visual beauty, this serene space offers a multi-sensory, transformative experience. I first encountered Fromental’s “Haiku” wallcovering in Paris—where, amid garden views, it evoked a sense of peace and brought to mind poetry and intentional moments. In a Showcase room overlooking the San Francisco Bay, the motif—inspired by nature and the ancient art of Japanese brush painting—backdrops soulful surroundings that are layered with meaningful details, such as bamboo blessed by Thai monks. Centered on well-being, this is a place to partake in a sound bath, meditation, a tea ceremony, or plant music. The hope is that, after spending time here, the home’s occupants can step out into the world relaxed, restored, and recharged.

ABOUT LISA STAPRANS

Lisa Staprans creates spaces that are highly functional and quietly luxurious. Her work is rooted in how beauty is received by our brain and body—thus profoundly impacting our well-being. Inspired by nature and travel, the sanctuaries that Lisa envisions serve as springboards for clients to live their best lives.

“I strive to create environments that help strip away any angst, anxiety, and apprehension— allowing us to be our best selves and, in turn, go out and make the world a better place. I believe that when spaces and beautiful things are created with intention, they have a palpable soul.” - Lisa Staprans

ABOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO DECORATOR SHOWCASE

The story of the San Francisco Decorator Showcase began in 1977, when Nan Rosenblatt, a former San Francisco University High School parent and an accomplished interior designer, and Philip Fernandez, the first president of the school’s Parents Association, conceived the first Showcase to raise funds for University’s financial aid program. In its first year, the Showcase raised $26,000 – since then it has raised over $18 million to benefit the program.

This year’s event will be held at 2898 Broadway, located at the top of Pacific Heights. Commissioned in 1899 by his father Duane Bliss, architect Walter D. Bliss designed this magnificent home in Dutch Colonial Revival style with panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay. The home will be open to the public from April 27 through May 27, 2024. Tickets may be purchased here with all proceeds benefitting the San Francisco University High School’s financial aid program.
